Sat. What a great day to be fishing on Norris lake. With Wayne Smith passing the top fishing pole to his pal Melvin, Melvin must have been really taking notes. With the water calm and the bait lively as ever, we caught out limit without any problem. Us three fishermen could not have had a better time, we will miss fishing with Wayne and really look forward to fishing with Melvin. My "grab that rod hard" had Melvin laughing. We are new to striper fishing and we could not have asked for a better guide and instructor than Mel. He put us right on the fish and gave us just the right amount of coaching to get them in the boat. he also shared a lot of information about the lake. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking to fish on Norris Lake.
We had a great time. Mel worked real hard to try and get are limit but the smallmouths got in the way. We caught 5 stripers, 18 smallmouths, 2 largemouths, and 1 cat. I liked how Mel allowed us be so involved the whole experience. I learned a lot. Great trip! Thanks Mel.

What a great trip we had with Mel. We caught a total of ten fish that were a combination of stripers and hybrids. Mel really knows how to use his fish finding equipment and kept us on fish a good part of the day, we out fished all the boats around us. Mel was so easy going it was like fishing with an old buddy.
I'm a local fisherman, but I take several trips a year with Mel because it's nice to learn new techniques and fish with a pro fisherman, this guy really knows his stuff and how to catch fish, big fish. he has very nice boats and up to date equipment and is a really down to earth nice guy. if you're new to striper fishing or if you have been doing it yourself for years, I recommend you take a trip with Melvin Cooke. I truly respect his work ethic in finding stripers. The day before we fished he went out on his own to find the location where the fish are biting. The result was our limiting out as well as catching some big bass. Thanks for your effort.

Jordan and I truly enjoyed this fishing trip. Mel was a great guide and angler. Out of all the fishing trips/guides I've been on I'd have to say this was the number one best experience I've had. He put us on the fish we limited out in the first 30 minutes of our trip, he was very helpful to Jordan who has never really fished before and put her on the biggest stripers we caught.
